According to the short introduction to the story, the protagonist is the science fiction writer Tom Wode Bellman (see fictional authors). DESCRIPTION: The protagonist of the story can't sleep. While he lies awake he starts musing about a story he wants to write, "The Light-Hog Incident". The hero, Hilary Boone, "...is captain of a space liner which is attacked in interstellar space by a horde of strange creatures, gigantic, barrel-shaped, mouthless, noseless, earless and eyeless..."
