Flight to Opar - Restored Edition
26 Apr 2015

Meteor House announced a few days ago their new edition of Philip Jose Farmer's Flight to Opar.

The announcement reads: «Meteor House is excited to announce the never-before-published Restored Edition of Philip José Farmer’s classic novel Flight to Opar, the second volume of his acclaimed Khokarsa series. This new edition—available as both an affordable trade paperback and a collectible limited edition hardcover—features nearly 4,000 words that were cut from Farmer’s original manuscript when the novel was published in 1976. Meteor House’s Restored Edition is the first and only publication of the novel ever to include the excised material, which encompasses long passages of narrative, dialogue, and rich world-building details on Ancient Opar and the civilization of Khokarsa that readers have never previously been able to enjoy—until now.
Meteor House’s Restored Edition of Flight to Opar also features cover art and a frontispiece by Hugo Award-winning artist Bob Eggleton as well as rare and previously unpublished bonus material.»

The price for the hardcover is $30, for the trade paperback $20. See the publisher's website for more and ordering information.

The God Business
12 Apr 2015

Philip Jose Farmer's novella "The God Business" (1954) was publihed last year as an eBook. It was published by Fiction Hunter Press and available for $0.99 at Amazon for the Kindle, or with Barnes & Noble for the Nook.

One of the reviewers at Amazon wrote this: "One of my All Time Favorite short stories. Fresh, unbridled ideas, romance and sex all done with the usual superb creativity that Farmer is famous for."
A story in the Sturch series
8 Apr 2015

A new solo publication of Philip José Farmer's novella Rastignac the Devil. This time from publisher Leopold Classic Library. Their website is completely empty...
Amazon.com indexes this publication under 'Christian Books & Bibles'.

It is published in a very overpriced ($10.95) chapbook. Overpriced, especially because the story is free of copyrights, in the public domain also. It is available as a free eBook and a free Audio Book. But if you want a printed copy you can order this one at Amazon.

Thanks Fred for the tip!
Books received from Italy, Japan and China
6 Apr 2015

From Japan came another few translated Phil Farmer books for my collection: 恋 人たち (The Lovers), 1980, 太 陽神降臨 (Flesh), 1978, and 淫獣の幻影 (The Image of the Beast), 1986.

I scanned the covers and replaced the older ones with these. The older images were found on the internet.

Also received from Italy the translation of Gods of Riverworld (Gli dei del Fiume), 1985. And the Italian box with both volumes of the Riverworld omnibuses, Riverworld, Il mondo del fiume (1992). I did not know that these two volumes came in a (very large) box.

Finally I received from China the anthology from the previous entry, 克苏鲁神话 (Cthulhu Mythos). But I'm very confused about this one. I received two trade paperbacks, but cannot find Farmer's story "The Fresman" in one of them. I expected to receive only one book. It looks like it might be a reprint of September 2014, where the publisher left out Farmer's story to publish it in 克苏鲁神话2 (Cthulhu Mythos 2) of January 2014.
Have to search more on the internet and maybe ask a friend's wife, who is from China, to help me out. Will be back on this one.
