The First Robot
Genre Science fiction
Type Short story
Series -
Originally written in the first half of the 1950's, but only published after the rediscovery of the unpublished manuscript owned by a fan and friend of Philip José Farmer. The story was written using the penname Jeanette Rastignac.
DESCRIPTION:
A story about the first robot in prehistoric times. But don't take the term robot too literally.
From the foreword: "In this short but poignant tale, Phil engages in what he is perhaps best known for: expanding the often all-too-narrow horizons of genre writing, in this instance in the field of prehistoric fantasy ... Phil's story imagines the origin of one of humankind's most prevalent and yet darkly hidden societal maladies...".
