DEDICATION: Dedicated in loving memory to Bette Farmer. As Phil wrote many times, she was the driving force in their family, the dedicated woman behind the successful man. She urged him to go back to college, supported him, and encouraged him to write. If not for her, much of this book—perhaps all of it—would not exist.
